Will Grace
Will's Story
I have always had the dream of becoming a professional sportsman. From rugby to rowing, to then discovering triathlon 8 years ago, it has been an unforgettable journey of pushing myself to be the best version I can be. I chose the sport 8 years ago as a way of meeting new people after university and soon it became clear this was the sport I wanted to pursue and push myself to the highest limits.
For a long time, triathlon training allowed me the time to fully focus on myself, it created a mindset where the only focus was on the present situation, whether it be in the pool, on the bike or out running. As I progressed in the sport, it became clear I get pure enjoyment out of pushing myself to be the best version of myself and getting as a fast as possible. The reason why I train and compete is to allow me to meet and race the fastest people in the world. I get to push my body to the limits, and I love that!
Since starting triathlon after university, I have been working full time in the Marine dredging industry contributing to major coastal protection projects, such as replenishing Bournemouth beach, and other key coastal development projects, such as reclaiming the dock which the new Everton Football Stadium has been built on. Since taking my professional licence in 2025, I have reduced my working hours to 3 days a week to give myself the extra time to train, recover and race. This is already having a significant impact on the quality of my training.
INSPIRATION: My big brother. In 2017 my big brother was involved a major hit and run accident in France, where he had to learn to walk again. Jump forward 6 years of serious rehab, and few ultra marathons, he completed the Arc of attrition, a 100 mile ultra around the Cornish coast in January.

SEASON GOALS: First season as a professional long course triathlete where focus is on gaining valuable experience and pushing for a podium!
GREATEST CHALLENGE: Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Taupo in 2024. After an incredible build and preparation to end my age group racing before taking my pro licence, I didn't have the race I knew I was capable of. After a strong swim and bike, I majorly struggled on the run, losing out on the overall AG win by a few minutes. Luckily, I have the support of family and the Team at Ku Cycle which refocussed my mind by reflecting on the whole of the 2024 and the success I had consistently throughout the season. Knowing that one result does not define me and that I am in fact ready to step up and race as the next level.
